Excited to share the latest entry in the hundred billion project: "Mutually Assured Distraction", styled and curated by @supermoderne. Now live at www.hundredbilliongarment.com

We had a lot of fun working on this one. Here's what supermoderne had to say:

"With this project, I wanted to use the curation of second-hand listings as a way to create characters and build a world. At its core, the collection explores the tension between survivalism and escapism: preparing for catastrophe or avoiding the subject altogether in order to enjoy the present.

I was also interested in including everyday tools and forms of protection that reflect the limited, yet creative ways civilians might respond to environmental threats. This aspect was heavily inspired by I am a Hero by Kengo Hanazawa, one of my favorite works of apocalyptic fiction. In some cases, armor is litteral, and in other, it’s suggested by the clothing.

Ultimately, I approached the project as if assembling the roster of a video game, where each look suggests a different character, mindset, and strategy for the end of the world. Thanks a lot to @supamolecule for building this cool platform to express all of this."
